Hey,

I am still using iBlog2 and are so happy with it, but we have to look at the future. I waited [along with many others] for the final release of iBlog. It may not come... a real miss, but luckily some talented people are here to save the day. Let me see if I can get it to work with drupal over the next few days....

Saludos de Argentina

Hi Greg.
Good to hear from you.

To give you a little bit more info:

iBlog 2 never went out of late beta. Sarat moved back home and despite the original idea of finishing iBlog 2 in the next 6 months ... it just fell into the background.

He started looking at office space and hiring developers. Part of his plan was to hire a mac developer to help him finish iBlog 2, but he couldn't find one. (or no suitable agreement could be made). He looked at transitioning all iBlog users at his expense to another Mac blogging software, but there was limited interest by other developers, and their software seemed restrictive (compared to iBlog2's flexibility).

He did hire a few people, who he was training and Lifli started working on some web 2.0 projects.

Beyond that, I don't really know. I have had very limited contact with Sarat. It mainly was me saying hi and reminding him about iBlog 2 export functionality. Other than that, I don't what they were working on or if it is successful. He's not quite as chatty or as open a person as we are, with our online presence or longer emails. Lifli hasn't been updated in a while. ibloggers.net disappeared with a domain registrar or host update. Which really frustrated me, as it was the main means of communication for ibloggers and held a vast array of topics.

So, it is sad iBlog 2 never materialized. I had very high hopes for v2, even though its alpha and beta phases were a bit in spurts. It was a super flexible and extendable solution, considering the limitations of .mac, a single developer and a small group of amateurs driving the ideas. I recognize many aspects, solutions and ideas that we had for iBlog 2 in WordPress, even though certainly I didn't look at it for inspiration. I still think our all-in-one theme structure was a gem.

Hopefully that answers things a bit more.

Maybe I should do a post about it, so other people can learn about what happened to iBlog 2.
